Anna is a phytoplankton ecologist who works on a team regularly monitoring the Newport Hydrographic Line and regional ocean conditions. Her work focuses on understanding how phytoplankton communities change in response to environmental shifts and the implications of those changes for higher trophic levels. Anna also contributes to projects that provide early detection of harmful algal blooms (HABs) and utilizes advanced technologies, like the Imaging Flow Cytobot, to enhance her research. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys snorkeling, backpacking, walking her dog, foraging for mushrooms, and building furniture.
